Wilderness Areas of Northern Colorado
The northern part of the state of Colorado contains the largest (Flat Tops) wilderness area, to some of the most frequently visited (Indian Peaks) wilderness areas.
Much of the northern part of the state contains lodgepole pine forests, mixed with spruce and aspen. Unfortunately, much of the lodge pole pine forests here have been ravaged by pine beetle attack, leaving the trees dead and brown.
